Candace Hasan

Candace, a reproductive justice activist from New Orleans, shared her journey at the Justice Now 2024 conference in Atlanta. She discussed her involvement in abortion doula work, gender justice, and trans justice, inspired by her own abortion experience. Candace emphasized the importance of community, mutual aid, and shared values in achieving reproductive liberation. She highlighted her educational background in Women's Gender and Sexuality Studies and her work with various organizations, including the Louisiana Abortion Fund, NARAL, and Spark. Candace dedicated her oral history to her late grandmother, Avery Johnson, and stressed the need for free abortion access and community support in the face of political challenges.
